Merry Christmas to You is Reba McEntire's thirteenth studio album and her first dedicated to Christmas music. The album features McEntire's renditions of classic and traditional Christmas songs. Its exact release date is debated, with some sources citing September 1987 and others November of the same year. The album was reissued in 1993 with updated artwork and again in September 2017 on vinyl featuring the 1993 artwork to commemorate its 30th anniversary. Notably, this was the last officially sanctioned album to include Reba’s first and last names on the cover until the release of Best Of/20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection in 2007.

  • Christmas is my favorite time of the year. It's Jesus' Birthday, a time for family get-togethers and a time for giving - which is one of the best feelings of all!

I thoroughly enjoyed working in the studio with my band and crew - who also happen to be my best friends.

There's a special feeling that goes with Christmas. I got that special feeling with this album.

We hope you feel it too!

    love,
    Reba McEntire

Biography

When Reba McEntire stands on stage and sings a song - as only she can sing it -every single one of the people in that audience thinks she's singing right to them. And when they buy her records, they're taking home more than a cold piece of vinyl - they're taking home a part of Reba McEntire.

More than any other popular artist, Reba sings of feelings with a sensitivity and empathy that is unrivaled. She sings about feelings that we all know and that have touched each of us - for the bad times and the good.

So for the good times, there is no one more appropriate than Reba McEntire to record a Christmas album. For no one could sing songs of the heart, of the season, of children and grandparents, of all the family, like Reba can.

Christmas favorites like "Away In A Manger", "O Holy Night", "Silent Night", "White Christmas" and "I'll Be Home For Christmas" are sung with a heart as full as the most distinctive voice in country music, and each have received a brand new arrangement especially from Reba. She adds a story, "The Christmas Guest", written by Grandpa Jones and Bill Walker, that will have children of all ages spellbound. "Happy Birthday Jesus", with a background full of kids, will also be a favorite of young and old alike.

As befitting the family feeling of Christmas, for the first time, Reba gathered her expert road band with her in the studio to record this album. The easy, familiar feeling is evident, as who knows Reba and her music any better than they?

Reba wrote a personal note to her fans and says "There's a special feeling that goes with Christmas. I got that special feeling with this album. We hope you feel it too!"

As surely as snow falls in Minnesota and children lie awake on Christmas eve, "Merry Christmas To You" is a gift straight from Reba's heart.
