What Is The Point Of This?

A few years ago, we stumbled upon a phenomenal website called Barbra Archives. What immediately struck us was the depth — the way it meticulously documented every corner of Barbra’s recorded output. It became an invaluable resource as we filled in gaps in our ever-growing iTunes library, but at the time, we didn’t think much beyond that initial admiration.

Then we started noticing more sites dedicated to preserving an artist’s full body of work — The Power Of The Music: The Ultimate Céline Dion Discography, The World Of Tina, and Dolly Discography. Eventually, Matt Howe of Barbra Archives even released a beautifully assembled hardcover book chronicling Barbra’s discography in detail. Seeing that level of dedication to musical history sparked something in us.

To our knowledge, no one had attempted a truly comprehensive catalog of Reba McEntire’s entire musical body of work — so we decided to do it ourselves.

We’ve been fans of Reba’s music for as long as we can remember. Over the years, we became fascinated not just with the songs, but with the nuances — the different album versions across formats, countries, retailers, and record labels. The alternate covers. The retailer exclusives. The international pressings. The promotional releases. The small details that, taken together, tell a much bigger story.

This site exists to document that history.

Our goal is to make sure fans don’t miss out on incredible recordings that might otherwise be overlooked — like the 1998 re-recorded version of “Fallin’ Out Of Love,” the Portuguese duet “Coração Vazio” with Chitãozinho & Xororó, or her cover of England Dan & John Ford Coley’s “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight” with Jacky Ward. These releases may not always be easy to find, but they are part of the larger musical tapestry that defines Reba’s career.

We’ve organized the site into sections to make exploring easier:

  • Studio Albums — Every original studio album (no Greatest Hits packages here).

  • Compilation Albums — Hits collections and previously released material compiled into new packages.

  • Singles + EPs — Retail exclusives, international singles, and special releases beyond the standard commercial album.

  • Music Videos — A comprehensive listing of Reba’s video output with as much production information as we can gather.

  • VHS, Laserdisc, DVD + Digital Video — Concert specials and video-only releases.

  • Songs — A master list of recordings and where to find them.

  • Also Appears On — Collaborations and guest appearances on other artists’ projects.

If you notice black-and-white album covers throughout the site, that simply means the page for that release hasn’t been completed yet. Once a page is live, the image appears in full color. In some cases, you may notice missing release dates — particularly from the earlier years of Reba’s career, when record-keeping wasn’t as thorough as it is today. We’ve done our best to verify information through extensive research, but this is an ongoing effort.

Our research has been shaped by many sources: archived versions of Reba.com through The Wayback Machine, Discogs for catalog numbers, digitized publications like Billboard and The Tennessean via Newspapers.com and Google Books, and generous friends and collectors who have scanned artwork, tracked down rare items, and answered countless questions. We also drew inspiration from sites like Barbra Archives and its companion book Barbra Streisand: The Music, The Albums, The Singles, as well as Dolly Discography, The World Of Tina, and The Power Of The Music.

This is a 100% not-for-profit fan site. We are not affiliated with RM Business, Inc., Rockin’ R Records, Music Corporation Of America, MCA Nashville, or Universal Music Enterprises in any way. All cover art, photography, and media clippings are the property of their respective owners and are presented here strictly for educational and historical purposes. If you own anything featured on the site and would like it removed, please contact us.

We also want this to be collaborative. If you have archival material to contribute, corrections to suggest, or additions we may have missed, we welcome your input. You can reach us at via our contact form. If we use your contribution, we will happily credit you.

Over the years, we’ve spent considerable time and money acquiring rare releases to scan and document. Some images are watermarked to ensure proper attribution if they’re shared elsewhere. While none of our images are AI-generated, there have been occasions where damaged or poorly scanned artwork required careful recreation to appear historically accurate — and we’ve tried to note those instances whenever possible.

This project is built on passion, curiosity, and respect for the music. It’s our way of honoring a catalog that has shaped so many lives — including our own.

Now, since you’ve read this far, he’s an exclusive video clip from the So Good Together album recording sessions:

How Do You Find These Things?

Where do you find these things? I get this question quite often. When asked how she finds the myriad of great memes she posts to her social media accounts, a friend says, “They found me.” I don’t think I can get away with that in this instance.

Where do you find these things? I get this question quite often. When asked how she finds the myriad of great memes she posts to her social media accounts, a friend says, “They found me.” I don’t think I can get away with that in this instance.

The truth is that, for the most part, finding these things requires a lot of hard work and patience.

I would say that most of my items come from eBay and, most recently, Discogs, but many of the items I’ve come across over the years came from being in the right place at the right time. I like to look through thrift storesjunk storesrecord stores, and antique stores—both in-person and online.

For example, if I walk into a thrift/junk store I want to look over every possible inch of that store because you never know what you will find and where you will find it.

I once found an advance copy of Rumor Has It on cassette (shown below) at the very back of a junk store in Nashville on the bottom shelf of a bookshelf with a couple of other cassettes. I had no idea something like this existed at that point. I found a similar version of For My Broken Heart on eBay a few years later. Had I given up halfway through, I wouldn’t have found this great item.

Sometimes, you pick something up, hoping to find something, but it turns out it’s just a dud. But sometimes, you’ll pick up something and find something you’ve never seen. The latter describes this CD-R with the words “MCA Image Archive” written on it. I was browsing at the Music Row Yard Sale during the CMA Music Festival several years back and found this item for $2. I figured I was only out $2 if it was a dud. If it weren’t a dud, then I’d have something! It included hi-res images from many MCA Nashville artists, including Reba. All of the photos were for Reba’s Greatest Hits Volume III - I’m A Survivor release, and there was one photo in this set that I had never seen before! You’ll see that coming up on that Compilation Albums page when it is finished.

Most of the time, I can be very meticulous when browsing—looking at catalog numbers and pouring through the artwork. If I didn’t look at the artwork, I’d never know that the BMG Music Service version of the What If It’s You cassette had black-and-white artwork on the inside.

Fun Fact: The Columbia House versions of some of the late 90s CDs does not list the “Also Available by Reba McEntire” discography section and/or the Fan Club contact information. I assume the former isn’t listed because those titles might not be available from Columbia House.

Some other interesting finds over the years:

Two different versions of Live on LP - stay tuned!

Different coloring on the artwork for international versions of Greatest Hits Volume Two - and missing flowers?

“Censored” Reba Artwork?! (Thanks to my friend Billy for that tip!)

If I Had It My Way: 50 Greatest Hits

These are my thoughts on where I would have tried to take Reba’s 50 Greatest Hits if I were in the driver’s seat.

EDITORS NOTE: These If I Had It My Way articles are just the opinions of someone who has been around the block at least once. I may not have been around the block as often as some in the Reba world, but I’d like to think I know a few things. I will admit when I’m wrong and when I don’t know what I don’t know.

Sometimes, when an artist releases a compilation album of any kind, it could mean any of the following:

  1. Their recording contract calls for it.

  2. They are at the end of their time with a label.

  3. They’re on a new television show and don’t have time to record a new album, but they want new product on store shelves.

  4. They are having massive success with another label, and their previous label wants in on the action. (See The Best Of Reba McEntire or Oklahoma Girl or ICON or…)

  5. They’ve just recently announced a farewell tour.

  6. They are celebrating a milestone anniversary in the music business.

  7. They’ve passed away, and their former label or estate wants to cash in.

    …among many other reasons.

Here are my thoughts.

I don’t know this definitively, but I’d always been told that Reba had a clause in her contract with MCA that she had to deliver a boxed set, similar to George Strait’s Strait Out Of The Box set, which was released in 1995.

If that were the case, this would be the perfect opportunity to mine the vault for previously-unreleased things like:

  • A song with an unknown title - that was dropped in favor of “The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter” from the Read My Mind sessions)

  • “Christmas All Year Long” from the Secret Of Giving: A Christmas Collection sessions

  • ”Head Held High” from the Greatest Hits Volume III - I’m A Survivor sessions

  • ”Prove Me Wrong” from the Greatest Hits Volume III - I’m A Survivor sessions

  • ”That’s Love To Me” from the Greatest Hits Volume III - I’m A Survivor sessions

  • ”You’re Never Gonna Leave Him” from the Greatest Hits Volume III - I’m A Survivor sessions

  • A 12th song with an unknown title from the Room To Breathe sessions

  • ”I’m A Lot Like You” (with Kelly Clarkson) from the Reba Duets sessions

…okay maybe not the Christmas song. Save that for your next compilation of Christmas songs.

One could also argue that you could look for these previously-released gems that weren’t that widely circulated, especially the Polygram Mercury product:

  • The Singing McEntires “The Ballad of John McEntire” and “Interview by Grandchildren” from the BOSS Records 7” single SPS-194-A

  • “I’m Not Your Kind Of Girl” from the Polygram Mercury single 73788

  • “Three Sheets In The Wind” (with Jacky Ward) from the Polygram Mercury single 55026

  • “Good Friends” (with Jacky Ward) from the Polygram Mercury single 55054

  • “If Your Heart’s Not In It (What’s In It For Me)” from the MCA Records single MCA-52349

  • “The Silent Partner” (with Baxter Black) from the Coyote Cowboy Company release Baxter Black & Friends BB 430 (credited on the cover as “The Mystery Lady”)

  • “Fancy [Edited Version]” from the MCA Records promotional single CD45-54042

  • “How Blue [Original T.V. Track]” and “That’s What She Said [Original T.V. Track]” from the MCA Records Japan release My Kind Of Country MVCM-127

  • “Till You Love Me [Single Version]” from the MCA Records promotional single MCA5P-54888

  • “God You Never Cried” (The Singing McEntires) “If I Could Only Be Like You” (Susie Luchsinger with Reba McEntire) from the Integrity Music release Come As You Are IND 0244

  • “Starting Over Again [Remix Version]” from the MCA Records promotional single MCA5P-3701

  • Ring On Her Finger, Time On Her Hands [Edited Version]” from the MCA Records promotional single MCA5P-55161

  • “What If [Single Version]” from the MCA Records promotional single MCA5P-72026

  • “What If [Country Edit]” from the Universal Music Australia single MCD49051

  • “All Of You” and “I’ll Take Your Heart” from the MCA Nashville/Arista Nashville promotional EP Exclusive Collectors Edition MCADS-72054

  • “One Honest Heart [DTS Version] from the MCA Nashville/DTS Entertainment release If You See Him 71021-51027-2-6

  • “The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter” [Live], “And Still” [Live], “The Greatest Man I Never Knew” [Live], “The Fear Of Being Alone” [Live] and “Sweet Dreams” [Live] from the MCA Nashville/Universal Music Australia release If You See Him MCAD 70043

  • “Please Be The One” from the Dreamworks Records release The Prince Of Egypt (Nashville) DRMD-50045

  • “Does He Love You (with Linda Davis) [Live]” and “Forever Love [Live]” from the MCA Nashville UK single “Does He Love You CD 1” MCSTD55569/155 569-2

  • “The Greatest Man I Never Knew [Live] from the MCA Nashville UK single “Does He Love You CD 2” MCSXD 55569155 570-2

  • “We’re So Good Together [Remix Version]” from the MCA Nashville single MCNR-02090-2

  • “If I Fell” from the MCA Nashville release I’ll Be 170 144-2

  • “He Gets That From Me [Edited Version]” from the MCA Nashville promotional CD-R with no catalog number

  • “I’m A Survivor [Live]” and “Take It Back/Why Haven’t I Heard From You [Live]” from the MCA Nashville Best Buy exclusive single Whirlpool Presents: Reba Live MCNR-02565-2

  • “How Was I To Know [Live]” from the MSN Music digital exclusive release Reba #1’s (no catalog number)

…okay maybe not ALL of these, but I’ve come up with what I think is my definitive version, with a few bonuses thrown in for good measure. Let’s turn this into 50 Greatest Hits to celebrate 50 years in the music business; how about that… I’ll throw in some sample artwork because I like designing this stuff. I understand the cost of licensing things from labels that aren’t part of the Universal Music Group family, so I will be a bit conservative there. Unfortunately, we’re not always able to have everything we want.
