Rumor Has It… a cover?

Did you know that 70s country star Freddie Hart was the first artist to record Rumor Has It?
I don’t even know how I came upon this, but I was on Discogs recently and found this 7” single of a song called “Rumor Has It” released on the Fifth Street Records label in 1988.
Was it the same song that Reba released in 1990? I checked the songwriters and yes! It was a match.
As soon as I had some disposable income, I picked up the 7” single and ripped it to my MacBook. You can listen to it in the player below.
