Twenty-five years after her celebrated Broadway run, Reba McEntire revisited one of the most acclaimed moments of her career with the release of two previously unheard recordings from Annie Get Your Gun. “You Can’t Get a Man with a Gun” and “I Got Lost in His Arms” captured McEntire’s performance as Annie Oakley in the classic Irving Berlin musical and offered fans a new glimpse into her time on the Broadway stage.

McEntire made her Broadway debut in 2001 when she succeeded Bernadette Peters in the starring role, beginning a five-month run that became both a critical and box-office success. Her performance earned widespread acclaim, with Playbill, Variety, and The New York Times among the publications praising the energy, humor, vocal ability, and distinctive personality she brought to Annie Oakley. The role remained McEntire’s first and only Broadway appearance in New York City and further demonstrated the versatility that had taken her career far beyond country music.

Released a quarter-century after her final bow in the production, the two recordings preserved a special piece of McEntire’s theatrical history while introducing her celebrated interpretation of Irving Berlin’s music to a new generation of listeners. Their release served as both a commemoration of her Broadway legacy and a reminder of a performance that had become an enduring part of her career.
